Includes surveillance as practiced by police and military agencies (e.g., through covert eavesdropping on phone conversations, or the use of video camera networks), development, manufacture and distribution of surveillance technology (e.g., by technology and weapons companies), and academic research that contributes to the development of surveillance technology and methods.
