On Land Acknowledgments
We recognize that passive land acknowledgment untethered to relationships with local Indigenous groups is not a meaningful call to action nor does it provide material support for decolonizing the land. We submit instead the words of Amrah Salomón: "The term acknowledgement...it just means like, inclusion....I would rather burn that shit down. You know. So what are the questions that can lead us there. What are we, coming into this space, wanting to destroy? What are we, coming into this space, committing ourselves to dismantle? And how are we gonna do those things. Who needs to be present, who can we build with, how can we build with them in a non-toxic way?"- Indigenous Action Podcast, Ep. #1: Acknowledge This!
