Public Consulting Group (PCG) is a Massachusetts-based company that provides computing services to prisons – primarily those operated by local and state government, according to the company’s website – including how to build better “Offender Management Systems.” PCG provides software for calculating so-called “risk assessments” as well as sentencing for individuals.
PCG tries to improve its image by teaming up with various non-profit organizations, including non-profits that try to get educational materials to incarcerated people (such as the Petey Greene Program), obscuring the fact that PCG’s profits depend on the continued existence and growth of the carceral state.
